Welcome the newest addition to the benchmarking group!

Pablo Mendez has been hired as a post-doctoral fellow. Pablo is in the final stages of completing a doctoral degree in Geography at the University of British Columbia. He has already begun working on the project but his formal role as post-doctoral fellow will commence this summer.

Background:
Pablo's dissertation research examines the informal housing practice of renting illegally built apartments inside single-family houses. Focusing on the city of Vancouver, his research investigates three key aspects of this phenomenon: the links between local housing markets, local/global economies, and the growing demand for these unauthorized apartments; the resulting increase in suburban household density; and the pressure to  adapt local land-use controls tothe changing realities of suburban housing in the region. Pablo has also been involved in several projects on the housing-market implications of large-scale immigration in Canada's metropolitan areas. We are excited to have Pablo join us in this project!
