Congratulations go to Katerina Cizek, director of the National Film Board-produced HIGHRISE, which was recognized among seven groups and individuals as a recipient of the 2013 Urban Leadership Award.
The unique multi-media documentary - also part of the Global Suburbanisms research project - received the Global City and Innovation award for using "the documentary process to drive social change, bringing community collaboration to bear on a global challenge."
Presented by the Canadian Urban Institute, the awards recognize those making Canada's cities healthier, safer, and more dynamic places to live and work. Other recipients include John Tory, Jane's Walks and and the Niagara Prosperity Initiative.
The awards will be formally presented at a ceremony in June in Toronto.
